Grandmaster Shouyu Liang was born in 1942 in Chongqing, China. At agesix he began his training in Qigong and martial arts under his grandfather.Grandmaster Liang is well known and respected internationally. His achievementsinclude:
1979—Voted as one of the topprofessional coaches in China. Won more than 30 gold medals in many regional,national, and international tournaments.
1981—Wushu coach at the University ofWashington.
1983—2003 Wushu Chair of University ofBritish Columbia.
1985—1986 Head coach of the firstCanadian Wushu Team.
1987— Founder of SYL Wushu Taichi QigongInstitute
1988—Founder of the International WushuSanshou Dao Association
1994—Leader of the North AmericanMartial Arts Exhibition Team.
1995—“Instructor of the Year” by Inside Kungfu Magazine.
1996—Included in “Biography of Todays Extraordinary Martial Artists” by China Wushu Magazine.
1999—2001 Team coach for CanadianNational Wushu Team; Awarded “Worlds GreatestContribution Award” and “WorldOutstanding Accomplishment Award”; Included in “Whos WhoHistorical Society”.
2002—Voted as Permanent HonoraryPresident of Confederation of Canadian Wushu Organizations.
Grandmaster Shouyu Liang has published 12books in Wushu, Taiji, and Qigong, many of them have been translated into morethan seven different languages. Grandmaster Liang is the Honorary Chairman orAdvisor of more than twenty professional Wushu, Taiji, and Qigong organizationsaround the world. He has been featured by countless numbers of newspapers andmagazines as well as has been interviewed by many television stations in China, Canada,USA, and Europe.
